I started clubbing in the 90s in Birmingham, which is where I was born. At the age of 16 I was going to clubs like The Ritzy and The Dome. It wasn’t until I was 18 that I started to explore the more underground clubbing Birmingham had to offer.
Birmingham was a great place to grow up in the 90s if you were into your true clubbing, as there were so many clubs that offered excellent house music. I regularly attended clubs such as Nightingales, TinTins, Subway City, Wobble, Crunch, S.L.A.G, Gods Kitchen, DV8, Dusk Til Dawn, Bakers, Sundissential, Bonds, Hush and Polysexual. Like so many people in Birmingham at the time, you worked all week, and lived for the weekends. You could start clubbing on a Thursday night, and with the official after parties, meant you could continue to dance until Monday morning. A true clubbing experience, that I’ll never forget.
