Carl Cox – Ibiza Villa – Boiler Room

A fantastic DJ mix by the one and only Carl Cox. The Boiler Room has taken over a Villa in Ibiza, and everyone gets in the party mood.

Carl Cox at Ibiza Villa Takeover DJ set - Boiler Room

I like watching videos of DJ mixes when I’m in the mood, and this one I’ve watched a few times. You feel a bit envious of the people who’ve most likely been out clubbing all night and then end up at the Villa to listen to Carl Cox Boiler Room mix. That summer heat and great tunes, what could be better.

Carl Cox is a great DJ, I’d say he is a party DJ because his mixes are always rocking and guaranteed to get you dancing. The video may be over ten years old, but it’s still completely relevant today music wise. It’s a must watch, and the 66 million whose viewed it obviously agree.

If you’ve got 45 minutes spare, then I’d definitely recommend listening to this mix, but please don’t skip the video. I know it’s difficult now that we have access to thousands of hours of music at our fingertips. However, when it comes to DJ mixes, you seriously cannot appreciate it unless you listen from the start to the end. By skipping you’re missing the talent a DJ has on sending you on a journey.

Some key moments

Ok, so I’ve just had a rant about not skipping a DJ mix, and I mean it, so I’m not trying to encourage you to do that. That being said, I’d like to mention some key moments in this video mix that I love.

Don’t get me wrong all of the mixes are great, and some of the tune selection is excellent, but these stood out for me.

  • At just before 11m 40s he starts mixing in the next tune. Once he’s mixed in the tune, he continues to play with the mix right up to when it’s mixed out at 16m 40s. You’ve just got to listen to this mix, I absolutely love it!
  • At around 30m 40s he starts to mix in Blue Monday by New Order, one of the first house tunes I heard as a kid. A timeless classic, and Carl Cox mixes the tune in fantastically.

These are just two of the moments in the video that are great, but seriously, I’d listen to the whole mix, as there are some fantastic tunes in this mix.
