Midnight Logic (A Tangent Trip) – Audio Groover

What happens when you throw the rulebook out at 12:00 AM? ‘Midnight Logic (A Tangent Trip)’ is a 13-minute experimental journey that blurs the lines between a hip-hop beat and a sonic mini-mix. Eschewing traditional structure for a raw, ‘sod it’ creative energy, this instrumental track takes you on a deep dive into Audio Groover’s more abstract side. No lyrics, no boundaries—just a late-night flow that proves logic doesn’t always have to make sense to find the groove.

Sometimes you have to throw the rulebook out the window to see what’s on the other side. This track started at around 12:00 AM as a ‘sod it’ moment—a total departure from my usual style into something more abstract and hip-hop influenced. It’s a random, sonic journey through late-night vibes and experimental flows.

Logic doesn’t always have to make sense… sometimes it just has to groove.

As random as it gets

I like being totally random, it completely sums me up when I’m in the zone. Instead of a standard three-minute radio edit, “Midnight Logic (A Tangent Trip)” evolved into something much more expansive. Clocking in at 12:55, the track functions less like a traditional single and more like a curated mini-mix. I realised halfway through the process that I didn’t want to loop a single idea; I wanted to see where the momentum would take me if I just kept building, layer by layer, without looking back.

The length allowed me to really lean into the “trip” aspect of the title. I’ve worked to ensure that while the transitions are unexpected and the sounds are random, there is a distinct thread pulling you through. It’s designed to be a sonic journey—the kind of track you put your headphones on for, hit play, and let your mind wander through the different movements as they shift from gritty hip-hop textures to more surreal, atmospheric spaces.

This project was a reminder that sometimes the best way to grow as a producer is to step away from your “brand” for a moment and just play. By removing the pressure to make a “perfect” song, I ended up with a piece of music that feels more honest and adventurous than anything I’ve sat down to write “properly.” It’s a 13-minute snapshot of what happens when you let the late-night energy take the wheel.
